The academy is looking for a piece of land (3000-4000 Sq.feet) for the construction of Music school. The help to get land from government or from private sources for the proposed music school will be highly appreciated.
Generous help from music lovers is expected to fulfill the academy’s objective which is creating a permanent mark to save the ancient tradition of Indian classical music that will go a long way in the history of Indian classical music.
An Ardent Appeal
Indian Classical Music has always been associated with its deep and rich heritage. In its 800 years old traceable tradition, Indian music has produced countless gems and their traditions are spread over many Gharanas.
The Dilrang Academy of Music and Fine Arts, is planning to publish a book to honour one such extraordinary gem, who has achieved an enviable position in the history of traditional Indian Classical music, Gayan Samrat Ustad Azmat Hussain Khan “Dilrang” (1911-1975). An extraordinary vocalist, sensitive poet, teacher and musicologist, his contribution towards the development of India’s Music Tradition and towards increasing popularity of Classical Indian Music and poetry is monumental.
Originally hailing from the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, Khan Sahab due to ties of marriage also had links with the Khurja, Agra and Delhi Tanaras Khan, Gharanas.
The book our academy proposes to publish is Khan Sahab’s own extensive memories, which highlight:
This book will not only be an autobiography of Ustad Azmat Hussain Khan Sahab, but will also offer valuable and authentic references and information on the evolution of India’s rich musical heritage and tradition. This book will be very useful to music lovers, musicologist and will be an excellent guide to future generation of music lovers.
This book tentatively titled “Journey into Musical Century” will be of 250 pages and we expect that the printing cost of the same will be around Rs.300,000.00., approximately. Contributions in full or part towards the publishing of this book will be tax exempt under section 80G, and the academy will suitably acknowledge all donors in the book. Your contribution towards this cause will help us in our endeavour to increase musical awareness and understanding of the Indian Classical Music. We have also the publishing material ready on the all time great music stalwarts of different traditional Gharanas.
The Dilrang Academy of Music and Fine Arts, Mumbai, has taken up the task of publishing these books and we earnestly request your valuable contribution and donations towards making this project a grand success.

“Dilrang academy has very strongly planned to celebrate 3rd march 2011 as the birth centenary year of the legendary vocalist Gayan Samrat Ustad Azmat Hussain Khan Dilrang. A three days music festival will be organized in which some of the topmost artists will participate and pay homage to “Miyan Dilrang”. The approximate, expected, expenditure to be incurred will be Rs.25 Lacs plus.
